| Village House |
An intensive, fast-tracked collaboration among the project team created a sensitively scaled, site-responsive house in a riverfront village. A pre-existing, non-conforming and steeply sloping site along a street of small scaled 19th century houses placed challenging restraints upon the design.
Main living areas are located on the lower level at the back of the house, opening onto terraces and water views beyond. A site stair between the house and its flared Garage negotiates the full story elevation change from the street. A breezeway privatizes the stair, providing a vestibule for the Mudroom and Garage. A double-height Family Room the architectural and functional heart of the house links the Entry with the lower level.
